Taliban Allocates Nearly 36,000 Residential Plots to Returning Afghan Migrants

The Taliban’s Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has announced that nearly 36,000 residential plots have been distributed to returning migrants in Afghanistan. These lands have been allocated to resettle families who have returned to the country after years of migration.

According to the ministry’s information, the land distribution is part of permanent resettlement programs for returnees. In recent years, returning migrants have faced serious challenges, including lack of shelter, unemployment, and inadequate basic services across various areas.

Although the Taliban administration reports the distribution of thousands of plots, clear details regarding the exact locations of these lands, the extent of infrastructure completion, and transparency in the allocation process have not been disclosed. Many returnees have previously complained about the absence of essential services such as water, electricity, schools, and health centers in the distributed settlements.

Urban experts emphasize that land distribution without the provision of necessary infrastructure cannot fundamentally resolve the issue of sustainable housing for returning migrants. They stress the need for a resettlement process that is well-planned and accompanied by transparent accountability.
