Solar Energy Brings Electricity to Girls’ School in Samangan Province

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced that with the implementation of a solar energy project in Sarkanda village, Samangan province, the electricity needed for the Khadijat-ul-Kubra girls’ school and 18 surrounding families has been provided.

According to the organization, this initiative was carried out under the SESEHA project, which aims to provide sustainable energy to rural areas. With the activation of this solar system, students at the school now have access to reliable electricity.

UNDP officials say that access to renewable energy can play an important role in improving educational conditions and facilitating the daily lives of families, especially in areas that previously lacked regular electricity services.

Samangan province in northern Afghanistan is among the provinces where many villages face energy infrastructure shortages, and in recent years, small solar energy projects have been implemented as an alternative solution in some areas.
