UN Says Afghan Women Aid Workers Continue to Serve Despite Risks

UN Women has said that women aid workers in Afghanistan continue to serve their communities despite ongoing risks and hardships.

The agency wrote on Wednesday, 28 Asad, on X that Afghan women humanitarians need extraordinary determination and resolve to be present in the field and help others.

According to UN Women, these women have remained alongside their communities and continued their work despite the threats they face. The agency also referred to the successive aftershocks following the 2025 earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, saying that women aid workers continued providing services in those conditions as well.

UN Women made the remarks to mark World Humanitarian Day and praised the efforts and sacrifices of Afghan women humanitarians and aid workers.

World Humanitarian Day is observed every year to honour the work of aid workers and humanitarian staff who provide assistance to people affected in difficult and dangerous conditions.
