Taliban Minister Inspects Farah–Abu Nasr Road Project, Urges Timely Completion

The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works announced that Mullah Mohammad Isa Thani, the minister of this department, visited the construction site of the Abu Nasr Farahi road at Mile 78 in Farah province during his trip to the southwest zone. He directed the project officials to complete the remaining work “to a high standard and within the designated time frame.”
According to the ministry’s media office, as reported by Bakhtar News Agency, the minister emphasized speeding up the work process and adhering to technical standards in his meeting with engineers and technical teams. However, no details were provided regarding the budget, contracting companies, or the exact date of the project’s full operation.
The road has a total length of 117 kilometers. According to the information provided, 64 kilometers have already been constructed, and out of the remaining 53 kilometers, work on 45 kilometers is completed, with ongoing progress on other sections.
The Abu Nasr Farahi road is considered a key economic and transit route in the country, connecting Afghanistan to Iran via the Abu Nasr border port. Completing this project is expected to facilitate the transport of commercial goods and help reduce transportation costs.
Meanwhile, local residents and economic activists consistently stress that infrastructure projects should be carried out with financial transparency, independent technical oversight, and clear accountability to prevent long delays and technical problems—issues that have raised concerns in recent years in some public works projects.
