Taloqan-Badakhshan Highway Reopens After Flood Damage

The Public Works Directorate in Takhar province announced that the main Taloqan-Badakhshan highway, which had been temporarily closed due to floods, has been reopened after cleanup and repair work was completed.
Ruhullah Akbari, the spokesperson for the Public Works Directorate in Takhar, said that technical teams have been present in the affected area since the onset of the floods and have worked continuously to reopen the route as quickly as possible.
According to him, with the completion of the technical works, vehicle traffic to the districts of Bangi, Ishkashim, Namakab, Farkhar, Warsaj, Kalafgan, and Rustaq has returned to normal, largely resolving the transportation issues faced by residents of these areas.
Officials also assured that efforts to reopen other roads and highways damaged or blocked by the floods are ongoing, with the goal of restoring traffic on these routes as soon as possible. The Taloqan-Badakhshan highway is considered a vital communication route in northeastern Afghanistan, and its closure directly affects the movement of people and the transport of commercial goods.
