Russia and Ukraine report hundreds of drones downed as strikes kill civilians

As military tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue, both sides said they had shot down large numbers of enemy drones. Russia’s defence ministry said it destroyed 808 Ukrainian drones overnight, while Ukraine’s air force said it had intercepted 181 Russian drones.
Russian missile strikes on several areas in Ukraine have caused deaths and injuries. Ukraine’s emergency services said one person was killed and 22 others wounded in shelling across six residential areas in Kyiv. Governors in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson also reported that several civilians were killed and injured in attacks on those regions.
In Kharkiv region, Russian strikes killed one person and wounded 15 others. On the other side, Moscow’s mayor said that since early yesterday morning, 630 Ukrainian drones had been shot down over the Russian capital, and at least two people were injured when one drone hit.
Russia’s defence ministry also said facilities belonging to Kyiv’s military-industrial complex, as well as some ships and port infrastructure in the city of Odesa, had been targeted in missile strikes.
The reports point to heavy military attrition and a continuing humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict in both countries, which has inflicted serious harm not only on military personnel but also on civilians.
