Taliban Housing Ministry to Reclaim 521 Apartments in Kabul’s Sheikh Zayed Township

The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has announced that all administrative and technical arrangements have been completed to reclaim 521 apartment units in Kabul’s Sheikh Zayed Township, and that once the deadline expires, the physical recovery process will be carried out without interruption.

The decision applies only to apartments whose owners have failed to pay at least 50 percent of the instalments due within the specified deadline.

In a statement, the ministry said the process is final and that those covered by the decision must comply and refrain from obstructing or delaying the recovery process. The Ministry of Urban Development has called on owners to fully cooperate with the relevant departments.

Owners have also been advised to visit the Ministry of Urban Development to settle accounts and receive any previously paid amounts. The ministry warned that no complaints will be accepted after the deadline ends, and that any violation will be dealt with through strict legal action.

The move comes as the Taliban administration has repeatedly made claims about drafting and implementing new housing projects, but restrictions and economic problems have left many people unable to pay the instalments. The recovery of these units will have adverse economic and social consequences for the affected families.
