Taliban Begins Construction of Two Schools in Badakhshan and Paktika
The Taliban administration has announced the start of construction on two school buildings in the provinces of Badakhshan and Paktika at a total cost of 2 million Afghanis. The projects are being carried out with the cooperation of local residents, alongside limited government funding.
Zabihullah Himat, spokesman for the Taliban-run Ministry of Education, told Pajhwok news agency that construction of a new building for the intermediate school in Sine village of Jurm district in Badakhshan province began on Wednesday.
According to him, the building will cost 1.5 million Afghanis, and local residents have also contributed to its implementation.
Based on the information provided by the official, the one-storey building will have 10 classrooms, and once completed, it will provide hundreds of students with access to education in a more suitable environment. Mawlawi Mohammad Tahir Javad, head of education in Badakhshan, also said at the foundation-laying ceremony that residents had cooperated in purchasing the land and building the school.
Himat also said construction of a new building for Al-Taqwa high school in Mata Khan district of Paktika province has begun. According to him, the building will be constructed at a cost of 500,000 Afghanis with the cooperation of local residents and will include eight classrooms and other facilities.
Education officials in Badakhshan and Paktika thanked residents for their cooperation in building these schools and said that once the buildings are completed, students will have access to a better educational environment. Jurm district in Badakhshan and Mata Khan district in Paktika are among the areas where access to educational infrastructure is particularly important.
