Taliban Leader Stresses Enforcement of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice Law
Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban administration, during a meeting with local officials, religious scholars, and tribal elders from southern provinces in Kandahar, emphasized the enforcement of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice’s law.
This meeting was organized by the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the Taliban administration to discuss the methods of implementing the ministry’s law. The Taliban leader described one of the fundamental goals of the “twenty-year jihad” as the promotion of virtue and prevention of what he termed “vice.”
He called on religious scholars to play a leading role in enforcing religious rulings and societal reform, urging them to serve as role models in practice.
In recent months, the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the Taliban administration has been central to a series of decisions and actions related to monitoring social behaviors, with the ministry’s law providing the operational framework for these measures.
