Taliban Deputy Minister Urges Respectful Treatment of People in Badakhshan

Enayatullah Shuja, Deputy Minister of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities in the Taliban administration, called on the group’s officials to treat people without arrogance and with kindness during a meeting in Fayzabad, Badakhshan province. He emphasized that officials’ actions should be sincere and aimed at pleasing God.
The meeting, held to raise awareness about the directives of Taliban leader Mullah Hebtullah Akhundzada and to strengthen cooperation between the people and Taliban authorities, was attended by the governor of Badakhshan and other Taliban officials. Enayatullah Shuja further urged officials to resolve disputes with those returning from abroad through dialogue and coordination with tribal elders and local authorities.
Rahmatullah Najib, the Taliban governor of Badakhshan, also called on tribal elders to educate the youth about foreign intelligence efforts to recruit them.
However, these appeals come amid repeated complaints from the people of Afghanistan, especially women, about mistreatment by Taliban forces. Taliban officials have previously instructed their forces to behave appropriately with civilians multiple times, but problems and public dissatisfaction persist.
