Health Services in Afghanistan Decline and Halt Due to Budget Shortages, UN Warns

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported a reduction and suspension of health services in Afghanistan due to insufficient funding. According to the report, residents of remote areas are forced to travel long and dangerous routes to reach medical facilities. OCHA also stated that humanitarian partners are striving to provide health services in more accessible areas for the population. However, these efforts are deemed inadequate, emphasizing that the continuation of health services requires sustainable and regular financial resources. The Office added that without the necessary funding, ensuring quality healthcare for mothers and children will not be possible. It further stressed that emergency health services should not be delayed due to financial difficulties.
