Afghan Jujitsu Athlete Eliminated After Two Wins at Asian Championships in Kazakhstan

Mohammad Sarwar Hosseini, an Afghan jujitsu athlete, was eliminated from the ongoing Asian Jujitsu Championships hosted in Kazakhstan after suffering a defeat against a Kyrgyz opponent following two victories. Earlier in the tournament, he had drawn with a competitor from Uzbekistan.

According to the National Olympic Committee, Hosseini competed in the 69-kilogram weight category, where he defeated athletes from Vietnam and Cambodia to advance to the next stages. However, his subsequent loss prevented him from moving further up the competition bracket.

In the same weight category, another Afghan athlete, Mostafa Vakili, is scheduled to compete against his opponent today. Afghanistan’s delegation to this round of the championships consists of two athletes and one coach.

The Asian Jujitsu Championships, featuring athletes from 49 countries, kicked off on July 11 in Kazakhstan and will continue until July 19. This event is considered one of the significant sporting competitions on Asia’s calendar.
