Taliban Authorities Emphasize Improving Conditions for Bagram Prison Inmates

The Taliban administration has announced that following an inspection of Bagram Prison, emphasis has been placed on respecting the rights of detainees and improving their living conditions—an indication of existing issues in prisoner services and care.

According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, Mawlawi Abdus Salam Hanafi, Deputy Administrative Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, along with members of the Commission for Organizational Structure and Salaries, visited various sections of the prison. They assessed the general status of inmates, healthcare services, food distribution, and the process of addressing prisoners’ grievances.

The Taliban administration stated that during meetings with some inmates, Hanafi heard their demands and directed relevant officials to uphold detainees’ rights in accordance with the provisions of Islamic Sharia, improve living conditions, and strengthen healthcare services.

Bagram prison officials assured the delegation they will continue efforts to resolve existing problems and provide better services to the prisoners. Bagram Prison is considered one of the key detention centers in Parwan province.
