Water Supply Project in Pasaband, Ghor Province Completed and Operational
Local officials in Ghor province have announced the completion and commissioning of a water supply project in the Cheshme Sorkhak village of Pasaband district, with a cost exceeding five million Afghanis. According to them, this project has provided access to safe drinking water for 180 families.
Zabihullah Ghoushizadah, the media officer of Ghor’s Directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, stated that the project was implemented with financial support from the World Bank and technical collaboration from the Dakar Institute. He added that beyond supplying safe water, the project has also created employment opportunities for some local residents.
As part of this initiative, a water reservoir with a capacity of 36 cubic meters was constructed, 20 solar panels installed, 134 water taps built, and over 7,520 meters of piping laid. Officials say these measures could help reduce water scarcity issues and improve health conditions in the area.
At the project’s inauguration, the Directorate’s officials expressed their gratitude for the cooperation of local residents and emphasized the importance of preserving and maintaining the facilities. Residents welcomed the project, noting that lack of safe drinking water has long been a serious challenge for them, and committed to cooperating in the upkeep of the water supply system.
The shortage of safe drinking water in many rural areas of Ghor has been a longstanding problem, and residents hope that the Taliban administration will implement similar programs in other underdeveloped parts of the province.
