Mazar-i-Sharif Municipality Announces 31 Development Projects for This Year

Officials from the Mazar-i-Sharif Municipality, the capital of Balkh province, have announced that 31 development projects will be implemented across various areas of the city this year.
According to the municipality, these projects will take place in different parts of Mazar-i-Sharif, which is considered one of the most important economic and transit hubs in northern Afghanistan. The city’s growing population has increased the demand for expanded urban services.
Despite these plans, no further details have been provided regarding the types of projects, the allocated budget, or the exact timeline for their implementation. Residents of Mazar-i-Sharif have repeatedly emphasized the need to improve urban infrastructure, better manage traffic, and address municipal service challenges in recent years.
Operating under Taliban administration, the Mazar-i-Sharif Municipality has so far not offered any explanation regarding the oversight mechanisms or transparency processes for these projects. This lack of information raises concerns about ensuring effective use of resources and accountability to the city’s inhabitants.
