Russia Claims Western Efforts to Isolate Moscow Have Failed

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dismissed Western attempts to limit Moscow’s global relations as unsuccessful. In an interview with Radio Sputnik, she responded to Western actions aimed at preventing African countries’ representatives from traveling to Moscow, stating that the Western discord in the face of diplomatic negotiations reveals this failure.
These claims come amid a backdrop where, since the outbreak of the Ukraine war in February 2022, Western countries have imposed a series of economic, financial, and political sanctions against Russia and have taken steps to restrict diplomatic cooperation with Moscow.
Despite these restrictions, Russia continues to maintain its relationships with certain countries, such as China and India, portraying this as evidence of the failure of Western isolation policy.
It is noteworthy that following the start of the Ukraine conflict, the West made extensive efforts to curtail other countries’ economic and political ties with Russia. However, the insistence of Russian officials on sustaining cooperation indicates the failure of this policy.
