Afghanistan’s First Specialized Mining Exhibition Held in Kabul with International Participation

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the Taliban administration held Afghanistan’s first specialized mining exhibition in Kabul. The event featured 150 companies, including firms from Iran, China, and India, showcasing products and services related to the mining sector across 150 booths. The exhibition was organized by Bakhtar Derakhshan Nandarton in cooperation with the Taliban’s Ministry of Mines, providing a platform to introduce Afghanistan’s mining capacities and resources. Mawlawi Abdulsalam Hanafi, Deputy Administrative Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, emphasized during the inauguration ceremony that holding such events is very important for Afghanistan’s economic growth. However, the exhibition took place amid ongoing challenges, as Taliban policies and restrictions in the mining sector—including a lack of transparency and insufficient investment—continue to hinder the full realization of the industry’s potential.
