Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Warns Afghan Taliban Over Border Attacks

The governor of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Faisal Karim Kundi, has issued a warning to the Afghan Taliban following a border clash in the Angoor Adda area, stating that Islamabad will not tolerate any violations of its sovereignty. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Lower South Waziristan region, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to five members of a family. Several shops in the Angoor Adda market were also damaged.
Pakistani officials have blamed the Afghan Taliban for the attacks, claiming that the gunfire originated from inside Afghan territory. In response to the attack, the Pakistan army launched retaliatory strikes on Taliban border positions, targeting their checkpoints and defensive bunkers.
In his statements, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor praised the swift and decisive actions of the Pakistan army and emphasized that the security of the province’s residents will be maintained despite the heavy costs of combating terrorism. He further stated that there is widespread public support in Pakistan for the armed forces in defending the homeland, and no threat will weaken Islamabad’s resolve to protect its territorial integrity.
These clashes come amid ongoing security tensions and disputes between Pakistan and the Taliban administration in Afghanistan. Islamabad has repeatedly accused the Taliban of harboring armed opposition groups, allegations the Taliban have denied, stressing that Afghan soil will not be used to launch attacks against other countries.
Despite claims by Pakistani authorities, there has been no official or independent statement from the Taliban administration regarding the initiation of the clash. The incident has heightened concerns about security along the border regions and the potential repercussions of escalating tensions between the two sides.
