Repair Work Begins on Part of Dai Zangi-Kandahar Highway

Local officials say reconstruction and asphalt paving work has begun on 3.5 kilometres of damaged sections of the highway between Dai Zangi and Kandahar, a route they say will make travel easier for residents and vehicles between Uruzgan and Kandahar once the project is completed.

According to these officials, the cost of the work has been covered by the provincial local administration and the Department of Public Works, while some technical support and machinery have been provided by the Fourth Infantry Brigade and the Trinkot municipality.

Officials added that the process is expected to continue for about 15 days. They did not provide further details on the total cost of the project or the extent of damage to the affected sections of the highway.

Highways leading to Kandahar and Uruzgan are considered important routes for passenger travel and local transport, and damage to these roads in many cases directly affects the daily movement of residents and transportation.
