Taliban Says 12.6 Billion Afghanis Distributed to Orphans and Disabled

The Taliban administration says that in the year 1447 Hijri, 680,583 orphans, widows and people with disabilities across Afghanistan were registered by its Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, and that 12.6 billion Afghanis in aid was distributed to 650,000 of them.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban administration’s spokesman, announced the figures on the sixth day of the “Government Media Circle” conference. According to him, the registered individuals also include disabled relatives of those killed.

Mujahid did not provide further details on the method of distribution, the amount of aid for each person, or the gap between the number of registered people and those who received the assistance.

The Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs is one of the bodies under the Taliban administration and is responsible for registering and dealing with the affairs of martyrs’ families, orphans, widows and people with disabilities.
