Solar-Powered Water Supply Network Put Into Service in Kandahar

The Taliban administration in Kandahar has said construction of a water supply network equipped with a solar power system in Torkhail village of the Dasht-e Archi district in the province has been completed and put into service.

According to the Taliban-run Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in the province, the project was built at a cost of 9 million afghanis, and with its activation, 394 families have gained access to clean drinking water.

Local residents said they previously faced many problems because of the lack of clean water, but the creation of this network has greatly eased their water shortage.

The Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development is among the bodies responsible for implementing rural projects in areas such as water supply, roads and basic services. Torkhail village in Dasht-e Archi district is one of the rural areas whose residents depend largely on basic services.
