86 Female Inmates Complete Sewing and Embroidery Courses at Pul-e-Charkhi Prison
The Taliban administration reported that 86 female inmates at Pul-e-Charkhi Prison in Kabul have completed six months of training in sewing and embroidery courses. This program is ongoing while hundreds of women remain incarcerated at the facility.
Officials from the Taliban’s prison administration stated that among these inmates, 50 were trained in sewing and 36 in embroidery.
According to these officials, there are currently 415 women imprisoned at Pul-e-Charkhi, and they claim that these detainees enjoy “all legal rights.” They added that approximately 150 of these women are engaged in educational and vocational activities.
Pul-e-Charkhi Prison is located in eastern Kabul and is considered one of the largest detention centers in the country, with a dedicated section for female inmates. The implementation of educational programs in prisons comes amid ongoing human rights concerns regarding the legal status and detention conditions of prisoners.
