UNICEF Launches Aid Efforts for Flood Victims in Nuristan Province

Following recent floods in Nuristan province that have destroyed roads and cut off transportation routes, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced the start of assistance to affected residents.

On Sunday, July 25, UNICEF stated on its X (formerly Twitter) page that the floods have devastated parts of the transportation infrastructure and left many families unable to access other areas.

According to UNICEF, teams are currently present in the damaged areas, providing emergency relief packages, healthcare services, nutritional support, and safe drinking water to those in need.

UNICEF added that the process of assessing and addressing the urgent needs of the flood-affected population is ongoing to ensure necessary services reach the impacted families. Nuristan is a mountainous province in eastern Afghanistan that has repeatedly experienced seasonal flooding and extensive damage to infrastructure in recent years.
