Afghanistan Completes 80% of CASA-1000 Electricity Project

Afghanistan’s Breshna Company has announced that 80 percent of the CASA-1000 project works have been completed within the country, with the remaining sections in their final stages. According to the company, once fully operational, Afghanistan will earn approximately 65 million dollars annually from electricity transit fees.
Mohammad Sadeq Haqparast, spokesperson for Breshna Company, stated that under this project, one thousand megawatts of electricity produced in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will be transmitted through Afghanistan to Pakistan. He emphasized that completing this initiative could enhance Afghanistan’s role in the regional energy network.
The CASA-1000 project is one of the major regional electricity transmission initiatives aiming to create an energy corridor between Central Asia and South Asia. Project officials consider it an important step towards strengthening regional connectivity and expanding economic cooperation among the participating countries.
