Taliban Administration Reports Return of Nearly Eight Million Afghan Refugees

Mawlawi Abdulsalam Hanafi, acting head of the Taliban administration’s Prime Minister’s office, announced the return of approximately eight million Afghan refugees to the country following the Taliban’s recent takeover during the opening ceremony of Afghanistan’s first specialized mining exhibition.

According to Hanafi, this large-scale return of refugees has created numerous job opportunities, especially in the mining sector.

He also emphasized that the Taliban administration is working to exploit Afghanistan’s natural resources to boost employment and economic growth.

Although these claims were made by the acting head of the Prime Minister’s office, the return of refugees faces significant challenges including insufficient services, widespread poverty, and insecurity across the country. The real impact of this return on the economic and social situation remains uncertain.
