Cargo Truck Overturns on Kabul-Jalalabad Highway, Killing One Woman

A woman was killed and 27 others injured when a cargo truck overturned on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway.

Younus Yousufzai, spokesman for the Taliban-run police command in Laghman, said on Monday, 6 Mizan, that the incident happened at about 9 a.m. in the Mashale Kamar area of Qarghayi district.

According to Taliban officials, the cause of the accident was the driver’s carelessness.

The Kabul-Jalalabad highway has repeatedly seen deadly traffic accidents in recent years. In previous reports, driver negligence, speeding and poor road conditions were cited as factors in some of these incidents.
