Atta Mohammad Noor Urges Taliban Opponents to Stop Sending Young Men to War
Atta Mohammad Noor, the former governor of Balkh, has called on armed opponents of the Taliban administration not to send young, unemployed people, refugees or the children of Afghans to the battlefield in order to gain fame or win favour with foreigners.
He made the remarks following a clash in Kamdish district of Nuristan province, an incident in which, according to news sources, a number of armed men were captured alive in fighting with Taliban administration forces.
In his message, Noor directly addressed armed opponents of the Taliban administration and stressed the need to refrain from sending young people to war.
Kamdish is one of the districts of Nuristan province in eastern Afghanistan, a mountainous province that has been the scene of armed clashes in different years.
