Taliban and Turkish envoy discuss Afghan migrants’ problems and economic ties
The Taliban administration says a meeting between Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and Sadin Aydiz, Turkey’s ambassador to Afghanistan, covered efforts to address the problems of Afghan migrants in Turkey as well as the expansion of economic, trade and transit cooperation between the two sides.
According to a Taliban press release, the meeting took place on Thursday, 19 Sonbola 1405, in Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar’s office. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to expand economic and trade relations and how to resolve the problems of Afghan migrants in Turkey.
The Taliban administration said Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar welcomed the activity of Turkish companies in various sectors in Afghanistan and called on investors from that country to invest in Afghanistan. He also claimed that the Taliban administration provides the necessary conditions and facilities for foreign investors, including Turkish investors.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban administration stressed the need to resolve the problems of Afghan migrants in Turkey and to create more facilities for them. The press release did not provide details on the nature of these problems or the specific measures discussed.
Sadin Aydiz, Turkey’s ambassador to Afghanistan, also expressed satisfaction with the rising level of trade between the two sides and said Turkey was ready to expand relations with Afghanistan in transport, transit, health, education and other economic sectors. He added that his country would continue cooperating to expand Afghanistan’s relations with the international community.
According to the Turkish ambassador, his country has also introduced facilitation measures in the visa issuance process for Afghan citizens and will try to make this process easier in the future. In recent years, Turkey has been one of the destinations for migration and work for some Afghan citizens.
