Taliban Administration Announces Expansion of Kabul City Limits with Annexation of Bagrami and Chahar Asyab

The Kabul municipality under Taliban administration has announced that the districts of Bagrami and Chahar Asyab will be merged with Kabul city under a plan to expand the capital, and will be included within the city’s district boundaries.

Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of the Kabul municipality, said Kabul currently has 22 districts and that with the addition of Bagrami and Chahar Asyab, the city’s administrative area will expand further.

He also claimed that in recent years Kabul has made significant progress in urban development and the construction of high-rise buildings. However, he did not provide further information on the exact time the plan will be implemented or on its administrative details.

Bagrami and Chahar Asyab are districts of Kabul province on the outskirts of Kabul city, and their annexation, if carried out, will alter the administrative map of the capital.
