Norwegian Refugee Council Says Kunar Earthquake Victims Still Need Aid

The Norwegian Refugee Council has said that, one year after the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, affected families still need ongoing assistance to rebuild their lives.

The international organisation wrote on X late Friday, 17 October, that many families still require support to rebuild their homes, gain access to safe drinking water and return to normal life.

Meanwhile, UN-affiliated agencies have said they do not have enough funding to respond to people affected by natural disasters, returning refugees and internally displaced people.

The situation comes as forced returns of migrants from neighbouring countries, continued natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes, and a lack of jobs and employment have placed broader pressure on families in different parts of Afghanistan.
