60 recovering drug users complete vocational training in Logar

The Public Health Department of Logar has said that 60 people who had recovered from drug addiction have completed vocational training in the province after finishing treatment.

Zarq Zik, head of public health in Logar, said the individuals were trained in tailoring, mobile phone repair, generators, motorcycles and barbering. According to him, the programme was carried out with the aim of helping them return to normal life and creating job opportunities for them.

He added that basic tools and equipment were also distributed to the graduates so they could create livelihoods for themselves.

According to local officials, both men and women are among the participants who graduated from the programme. The initiative was implemented with support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Logar is one of the provinces neighbouring Kabul and in recent years has faced challenges related to addiction and the need for treatment and rehabilitation services for people affected by drug use.
