UNDP and UNCDF Collaborate to Expand Financial Access for Businesses in Afghanistan

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a collaboration with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) to improve businesses’ access to financial resources in Afghanistan, an initiative taking place amid the country’s economic crisis.
On Thursday, July 23, UNDP released a report emphasizing that successful businesses can play a significant role in creating prosperity, stability, and peace, and that strengthening them contributes to improving the economic situation.
According to UNDP, supporting the people’s economy and backing commercial activities are fundamental pillars of the organization’s programs in Afghanistan. The agency identified strengthening the private sector, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating economic opportunities as vital needs for the citizens.
This collaboration is announced at a time when Afghanistan continues to face economic recession, widespread unemployment, and increasing poverty, with many residents struggling to meet basic living needs.
