White House Responds to Republican Defeat: ‘Trump Is Still Your President’
Preliminary results of the U.S. midterm congressional elections indicate a decisive victory for the Democratic Party in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Democrats have secured a majority of seats in both chambers, taking control of these crucial legislative bodies.
According to NBC, the Democrats hold 231 seats in the House, while the Republicans have 144. In the U.S. Senate, Democrats lead with 54 seats compared to the Republicans’ 44.
Following the announcement of these results, the White House posted a message on its official X (formerly Twitter) account stating: “Trump is still your president!” This reaction has drawn widespread attention in light of the Republican Party’s losses in the midterms.
These midterm elections have been regarded as a significant political test for the Republican Party and Donald Trump personally, highlighting a decline in their influence in Congress after years of relative control.
