UNICEF Intensifies Polio Awareness Campaign in Herat to Boost Child Vaccination

UNICEF’s office in Afghanistan has announced the expansion of polio awareness programs in Herat province aimed at encouraging families to vaccinate their children. The agency emphasized that while polio has no cure, it is preventable through vaccination. According to UNICEF, these activities are supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), with a number of social mobilizers actively informing residents across various areas of Herat. The program focuses on encouraging caretakers to visit vaccination centers and utilize free health services. UNICEF added that protecting every child against preventable diseases is a collective responsibility, and family cooperation plays a crucial role in the success of polio eradication campaigns. The organization called on residents to participate in vaccination programs and join efforts to end polio.
