Taliban Official Discusses Job Creation and Aid with World Food Programme

The Administrative Head of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office has announced that Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi met with officials from the World Food Programme (WFP) to discuss strengthening the local economy, supporting needy families, and creating job opportunities.
According to the released information, Hanafi emphasized addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, especially those affected by natural disasters, providing employment opportunities for returnees, and utilizing the country’s internal capacities. In recent years, natural disasters such as floods and droughts in several provinces have increased economic pressure on residents.
Meanwhile, Karl Skord, Deputy Director of the World Food Programme, assured the continuation of assistance to affected families and children suffering from malnutrition in Afghanistan. The World Food Programme is considered one of the major humanitarian agencies working on food security in the country.
Although the Taliban administration emphasizes strengthening the domestic economy, the continued dependence of millions on humanitarian aid indicates that unemployment and poverty remain serious challenges. Economic experts believe that creating sustainable job opportunities and transparent management of aid can play a fundamental role in reducing needs.
