UNICEF Provides Professional Skills Training to Vulnerable Afghan Girls

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan has announced that in its supported educational centers, it offers professional skills training courses, including embroidery, for girls who are vulnerable or at risk of violence. These trainings are designed to boost the girls’ self-confidence and provide a pathway to financial and social independence.
These programs are implemented with the support of UNICEF France, at a time when Afghan girls have been widely deprived of the right to education and work over the past five years following the Taliban’s renewed rule. The restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration have perpetuated the denial of equal educational and economic opportunities for girls.
Therefore, UNICEF’s activities, as one of the international organizations, represent limited and symbolic efforts to address the basic needs of girls in Afghanistan, who continue to face significant human rights and social challenges.
