Taliban Holds Southwest Governors’ Meeting to Follow Up on Orders

The Taliban administration said a regular coordination meeting of governors from the southwest zone was held at the governor’s office in Kandahar, with the focus on following up on the implementation of the “orders of the Amir al-Mu’minin” and security issues.
According to the Taliban administration, the meeting was chaired by Mullah Mohammad Shirin Akhund, the governor of Kandahar, and the governors of Zabul, Helmand, Uruzgan and Daykundi attended.
The Taliban administration added that officials from the army corps, police commands, intelligence, military courts and “relevant departments” also took part in the meeting and presented reports on the security situation and civil affairs in the provinces mentioned.
According to the published information, the meeting stressed “greater coordination and cooperation” between security and civilian institutions and discussed issues including “strengthening security,” preventing land grabs, preventing the cultivation, smuggling and buying and selling of narcotics, as well as “strengthening relations between the people and the government.”
