Imran Khan supporters continue protest march in Pakistan for fourth day

Protests and rallies by supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in support of former prime minister Imran Khan have continued for a fourth consecutive day.
According to the organisers, the convoy of protesters, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, has changed route and is now set to first head to the Khyber district before moving towards Peshawar.
Sohail Afridi said the change in route was made at the request of residents of Khyber and that he wants to meet PTI supporters in the area. Speaking during the march, he said: “When we say we must reach Islamabad, neither you nor even your father can stop us. Now listen, my Pakistanis. They were even upset about changing the date from 27 to the 4th. Now we are doing a trial run.”
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Gohar Khan has called for unconditional talks with the Pakistani government and stressed that political differences should be resolved through dialogue.
In response, the Pakistani government said its “doors” are open for talks, but stressed that political demands should not be made through pressure on the government.
The PTI march began on October 4 from Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The protest movement was launched after the party’s talks with the federal government on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed, and it is due to continue toward Islamabad tomorrow, Thursday, October 8.
