Trade Chamber food committee stresses market stability and imports

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment has held the first meeting of its specialised food committee, with an emphasis on greater coordination among relevant institutions, a review of import needs and market stability.

According to information from the committee, the meeting examined the food market situation and the current requirements for importing food items. It also stressed improving cooperation among the institutions involved in this sector in order to better regulate the market.

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment said that as a result of measures taken, the prices of a number of basic food items fell by up to 10% over the past month. However, it did not provide further details on which items were included in the decrease or how the measures were implemented.

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment is one of the active private sector bodies in Afghanistan, which is in contact with traders and relevant institutions on issues related to the market, trade and investment.
