Fish Farming Expands in Bamyan Amid Rising Costs

The head of Bamyan’s Industry and Trade Department has announced that the number of fish farms in the province has increased from five to 25, alongside a rise in investment in this sector.

According to Nurzai Aminzadeh, head of Bamyan’s Industry and Trade, the cold climate and water resources in the province provide a suitable environment for fish farming. Since the Taliban administration returned to power, 25 farms have started operating in this sector.

Along with this growth, some fish farmers have expressed concerns about the rising prices and shortage of fish feed, stating that this situation has negatively affected their production and exports. They have called on responsible authorities to facilitate domestic fish feed production to reduce costs.

However, industry stakeholders emphasize that the shortage of fish feed and limited resources for breeding remain major challenges for the fish farming industry in Bamyan. Located in the center of the country, Bamyan is considered a suitable area for cold-water fish farming due to its cold climate and water resources.
