Taliban Administration Delays Review of Solar Power Project by One Month

The Taliban’s inter-ministerial investment committee has decided to postpone the review of the solar power generation project in six provinces of the country for an additional month. The electricity company has been requested to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the plan and submit a report.

This decision comes as electricity shortages remain a major challenge for residents in several provinces, and renewable energy projects are considered a critical part of the country’s infrastructure needs.

According to a statement from the Economic Deputy Office of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office, the recent committee meeting also reviewed the plan for expanding the Nayeb Abad substation in Mazar-i-Sharif city and the issue of constructing a logistics center.

The agency said that after discussions on these matters, it was decided that the relevant departments should conduct comparative assessments of these projects and present the results to the inter-ministerial investment committee.
