Construction Begins on Kabul’s Minar-e-Nijat Overpass to Ease Traffic

The Directorate of Maintenance and Care of Kabul Municipality has announced the commencement of preliminary work on building a vehicular overpass with two circular ramps at the Minar-e-Nijat intersection. According to the agency, the project aims to reduce traffic congestion and increase vehicle capacity at one of the busiest junctions in the capital.

Published information indicates that this bridge will be constructed along the main Kabul-Logar highway and is considered one of the key infrastructure projects of Kabul Municipality. Officials state that upon completion, it will alleviate some of the traffic problems along this route.

Engineer Mohammad Dawood ‘Zawab,’ the Deputy Technical Director of the Directorate of Maintenance and Care at Kabul Municipality, said the bridge will be built with three lanes for each direction. The bridge is planned to be 450 meters long and 28 meters wide.

Additionally, as part of this project, two circular ramps measuring 252 meters and 239 meters in length, along with connecting side roads, will be constructed to allow uninterrupted and non-conflicting vehicle movement. The Minar-e-Nijat intersection is considered one of the most congested areas in Kabul, with thousands of vehicles passing through daily.
