Over 10,000 Surgeries Performed at Andragandi Hospital in Kabul in 2025

The Taliban’s Public Health Directorate has announced that in the solar year 1404 (2025), a total of 10,938 surgical operations were performed at the Andragandi Specialized and Tertiary Hospital for Children in Kabul. According to the directorate, these operations included both major and minor surgeries.

Based on published information, 7,715 of these surgeries were major, while 3,223 were minor, all carried out by experienced doctors at this health center. Officials described these figures as indicative of the technical and professional capacity of the hospital.

During the same period, 48,302 inpatients (IPD) received care and treatment at the hospital. Additionally, 247,415 outpatients (OPD) accessed health services as external visitors.

Andragandi Hospital is considered one of the key pediatric treatment centers in Kabul, attracting patients from various provinces. However, despite releasing these statistics, the Taliban administration has not provided details about the accessibility of specialized pediatric services for residents of remote areas, nor have they addressed existing challenges related to equipment and human resources—issues that have long been a concern for families and healthcare workers alike.
