Cash Aid Distributed to 250 Families in Paktika Ahead of Eid al-Adha

Officials in Paktika province announced that cash assistance has been distributed to 250 needy families on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Adha. This aid was provided by the Deputy Ministry for Counter-Narcotics of the Taliban’s Interior Ministry and coordinated with the Counter-Narcotics Directorate of the Paktika Police Command to families deemed eligible.
Mullah Paswal Al-Haj Qari Aminullah Tayeb, Paktika’s Police Commander, during the distribution ceremony stated that supporting needy families, orphans, and the impoverished is an “Islamic and humanitarian responsibility.” He added that the Taliban administration is striving, within its means, to support these groups.
According to him, each family received 6,000 Afghanis in the presence of members of the distribution committee.
However, local residents say that poverty and unemployment remain high in many areas of Paktika, and sporadic aid during special occasions does not address the ongoing needs of vulnerable families. Social experts also emphasize that sustainable economic programs and job creation are essential for poverty reduction—a matter on which the Taliban administration has yet to present a comprehensive and transparent plan.
