Taliban trade chamber deputy’s wedding in Uruzgan disrupted by guests’ protest

Sources in Afghanistan’s Uruzgan province say the wedding ceremony of Habibullah Omari, deputy head of the Taliban administration’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment, was completely disrupted after some guests protested that food was not served in full.

According to the sources, protesting guests threw dishes in the mosque courtyard during the event, which led to the ceremony being disrupted. The sources added that thousands of people were present at the wedding.

The sources also said that Habibullah Omari married a 16-year-old girl and that millions of Afghanis were spent on the ceremony. Based on this information, he had also planned to inaugurate a grand mosque built by the Taliban administration at the same time as the wedding.

Taliban officials have not yet commented on the incident. Uruzgan province is located in southern Afghanistan, and its capital is the city of Tirinkot.
