Former Pakistani Envoy Asif Durrani Urges Non-Interference in Afghanistan’s Affairs

Asif Durrani, former Pakistani representative on Afghan affairs, has emphasized that no country should interfere in Afghanistan’s internal matters and that the fate of the country must be determined by its own citizens. He warned that continued instability in Afghanistan could have repercussions for neighboring countries.

On Thursday, 17th of Sawr, Durrani wrote on his X page that any political or structural changes in Afghanistan are the responsibility of the Afghan people themselves. He added, “Leave the Afghans alone; they will find the solution.”

The former Pakistani diplomat further asserted that managing the current situation should be handled by “Afghan leaders” to prevent the spread of instability to the region. Due to its geographical location at the heart of Asia, Afghanistan has always impacted regional security and stability.

Durrani’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan’s political developments, particularly in regime changes over past decades. Many analysts and Afghan citizens have accused Islamabad of interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.

At the same time, Pakistani officials have recently expressed clear dissatisfaction with the Taliban administration—a group that reports indicate Islamabad has supported for several years. However, the Taliban administration has yet to officially respond to Durrani’s latest statements.
