Netanyahu Appears in Court Again as Corruption Trials Continue

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, appeared for the eighty-fourth time on Wednesday at the Tel Aviv District Court. According to Israeli media, this session might be the last hearing related to the so-called “4000” case before the court moves on to the “2000” case.

The Israeli website Walla reported that if the current investigations conclude, the judicial process will proceed to another case concerning recorded conversations between Netanyahu and a media publisher.

Netanyahu has denied all charges, repeatedly emphasizing that the cases have been brought against him for political motives. Nonetheless, his trial has continued steadily over recent years after details of the cases were made public.

In the “1000” case, Netanyahu and his family members are accused of receiving expensive gifts, including luxury cigars and jewelry, from wealthy businessmen. These gifts allegedly were exchanged for government favors.

The “2000” case involves recorded negotiations between Netanyahu and Arnon Mozes, publisher of the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, concerning positive media coverage in exchange for restricting a rival media outlet.

Additionally, the “3000” case relates to allegations of bribery connected with the purchase of submarines and naval vessels from Germany. The “4000” case centers on claims of a corrupt deal between Netanyahu and Shaul Elovitch, former owner of the telecommunications company Bezeq and the news site Walla.

A hearing was scheduled for April 26 after about a two-month hiatus but was canceled due to security concerns. This pause followed developments linked to the declared war against Iran.
