Taliban Authorities Say 205 Kilograms of Opium Seized in Takhar

The Taliban administration in Takhar has said that its security command has prevented the smuggling of 205 kilograms of opium in the province.
According to the body, the opium was hidden in a vehicle and was being transported to an unknown destination. The Taliban administration did not release further details about the exact location of the incident.
The Taliban administration also said six people had been arrested in connection with the case. No further information was provided about the identities of those detained or the progress of the investigation.
Takhar is one of the northeastern provinces of Afghanistan, bordering Badakhshan, Kunduz and Baghlan, and drug trafficking cases are also reported on some of its transit routes.
