Efforts Begin to Reopen Blocked Highway in Badakhshan Province

The Public Works Department of Badakhshan has announced that efforts to reopen a blocked highway in the province began at 5 a.m. today (Sunday). Officials say technical teams have been present at the site since early morning and have started clearing the route.
Arian Azar, the Construction Director of the department, confirmed the news, stating that the available equipment and machinery for reopening the highway are limited. According to him, the shortage of vehicles and heavy machinery could delay the work process.
He called on the Taliban administration and relevant agencies to cooperate with the Public Works Department to expedite the reopening of this route. Local officials say this highway is one of the main transportation routes in Badakhshan, and its closure has caused difficulties for residents’ travel and transportation.
Meanwhile, travelers have been advised to refrain from using this highway until further notice. Authorities have emphasized that until the route is completely safe, vehicle traffic could be hazardous.
