Taliban Administration Reports Forced Return of 141 Afghan Families from Neighboring Countries

The Taliban administration claims that in the past day, 141 families comprising at least 642 individuals were forcibly returned from neighboring countries to Afghanistan. Hamdullah Fetrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Taliban administration, announced on Wednesday, November 3, that 53 families totaling 287 people entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar province.
Additionally, according to Fetrat, 15 families with 73 individuals were returned via the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province, 19 families with 58 individuals through the Islam Qala border in Herat province, and 54 families comprising 224 people via the Pul-e-Abresham crossing in Nimroz province.
These forced returns occur amid serious challenges faced by many Afghan refugee and migrant families in neighboring countries, and the Taliban’s actions could negatively impact their fragile economic and living conditions.
